You want to know why I hate dailies so much?

I have a couple of reasons:

1. I die a lot. At first I just died. All the time. Now that my gear is a lot better I don't die due to NPCs anymore.

2. I die a lot. I am one of those kill-on-sight people. Today I was minding my own business while the rest of the Hordies mount counterattacks to the Alliance gank fest going on. One of said Alliance gankers runs over and sits down to drink near me. A paladin. I watch him drinking while I loot the mobs I've killed. Then I wave as I run by. A second later he Judges me and I am thinking WTF. I did nothing but wave as he healed himself from a very low health. Why would that warrant a gank? I didn't even fight back. I just stood and shook my head in disappointment at him.

I run back and res when I see him chasing a warrior down. I do my best to mana drain him and get his health down, but the warrior really isn't helping at all and I'm still at half health/mana from resurrecting. Well I got smashed again and all the Hordies nearby start grouping up over General chat. Sancity, wherever you are, you are an annoying nuisance. Get over yourself and go bg or something.

3. It takes me so damn long to kill things! I did dailies on Z's lock and he two-shots the mobs it takes me actual effort to kill. I don't think I'm doing anything wrong either....

4. I never have enough inventory or quest log space. I am a huge packrat! Dailies are an annoyance to my bag space.

5. I always forget to take the ley reading by the demon portal. I usually realize this when I am over killing nagas.

6. Nagas don't drop iron keys.

A WoW-related topic:

Listen up, little noobs. I am a nice person. I am nice to a fault. When people beg me for stuff, I give it to them because I sincerely hope that they will then become better little noobs, or that they will eventually pay me back for whatever favor or amount of gold I have given them!

And I've had pretty good luck with that so far. In my two-plus years of playing, I've been lending people stuff from the very beginning (I had a blessed childhood, never holding less than ten gold in my Change Purse of Awesome*), and I've never had a real problem with people not paying me back. I like to think it was because people are just good people, but really it was probably because they were just good enough to not take advantage of a sweet little femtroll huntard.

Anywho, this all has a point!

I have a, uhm, sorta kinda friend. He is a troll hunter that I met when leveling my shammy alt Tealla. He was in need of some serious help back then (and still does need help), so I was nice and helped him pick a pet and fix his spec up. Then (and this was my big mistake) I got on Gal and I ran him through RFC so I could teach him what drops were good for him and which weren't (STR gear is a no no!). Alrighty, cool, I made a new friend.

However, this was months ago! I expected him to grow up and forget all about the chick who helped him learn not to be an idiot. But nooooo. To this day I still get whispers from him asking me to run him through stuff and just telling me random things he's done. Omg you got a mount? Great, now stop bugging me.

What's worse is that I once again agreed to run him through something, this time SM. He was way too low, so I shouldn't have taken him, but a guildie needed to go, too, so fine, why not.

Do you know how many times he died? I just stopped trying.

After that was over I thought stuff would go back to normal. I logged and went on an alt to hide from him (seriously, isn't 3/4 wings of SM enough?!).

Apparently not, because the guildie I had helped dinged 70 the next week (yeah I am serious) and told me that the hunter had been bugging him every time he logged on for runs through stuff. And now when I log on he introduces his little friends to me. He's probably told them how nice I am and how willing I am to run noobs through stuff.

You'd think I'd learn my lesson, right?

Yesterday a level eleven orc warrior whispers me and asks me really nicely if I'd mind running him through RFC. I hesitate, but then he tells me that people say he's too low to be in their groups. Granted, he is too low. He can't go into LFG yet and he can't be summoned or use the summoning stone. But I've been there, you know? I've been healing RFC on Bloofish since he was level ten. I finally agree and he invites me to a group. There's a druid in the group, too, who turns out to be a really cool guy. I get on an alt to summon the druid and we beat RFC into a pulp.

After the run, they thank me profusely, and then let me go on my way. What is great is that I don't ever expect to hear back from them again. I helped them out, they were appreciative, now they'll leave me alone. How great is that?!

So, dear nooblings, I'd love to help you, lend you money, teach you how to play, tell you what addon makes my pet talk, or run you through an instance if I have time.

But please, treat me with respect afterwards. Thanks is all I need. I never need to hear from you again. I had fun while we were together, but enough is enough. Good luck, happy questing, see you when you are 70.

Anyways, blog still undergoing some stuff, I'll let you all know if, and when, I may make a permanent move over to WordPress. No worries, mon, no worries.

In the meantime I guess I'll tell you all about my first (omgfirstever!) Karazhan!

I logged on Gal one night to see my lovely little druid Nachos in a raid group with his good friend Feraldruidtankofawesome (aka Swagger). They have feral tank camaraderie foshizzle.

"Gal! Gal! My sweet, my love, my most awesome little baby huntard! We must have another DPS and you would be perfect with your big red death machine* and epic DPS-making bow!"

"Well....."

"OhpleaseohpleaseohpleaseIwilldoANYTHING!"

"Okee dokee!!"

I get summoned to Kara just in time for a million bajillion buffs and two trash mobs to go down. Then it's time for Netherspite!

Which we wipe three times on due to poor communication. But, oh, the sheer awesome fun of wiping!

(I get lost trying to run back after we die and need a lock summon, heheheh....)

We head on over to chess. Also fun, but by the time I figure out how to even move my demon guy, the game is over and we've won.

(By the way, I love Medivh, too, Pike!)

Then we go back to Netherspite and one-shot him. Sweeetness. I am doing near top damage/DPS (top three, bitches!).

Next up is Prince. One-shot. THE bow and my T4 ring drop! I decide to roll on the ring (and I win with a high 93!) and I pass on the bow for the hunter (orc huntress, actually) with a Valanos.

Overall a great night. I look forward to going back!

Kay when did WordPress become so complicated? More importantly, when is BRK coming out with a guide to using WordPress? Maybe he already has one....

(BRK has everything, amirite?)

EDIT: to add that BRK doesn't, in fact, have everything (get on that, man!), and also that WordPress is a lot easier when you go to WordPress.com rather than WordPress.org. Who knew. Now you do.

WordPress also has a neat-o import feature so I can copy over EVERYTHING from Blogger onto my WordPress version of Troll on a PowerBook (laptophunter.wordpress.com or something like that), which will make it a lot easier to kinda see what is what. I've always been blogging on Blogger (beta user ftw, back when stuff was simple and non-Google-y; liken it to pre-BC WoW compared to post-BC WoW: stuff was broken, but it was cooler and also very old school). My mom (omg?) also blogs on Blogger (no link for you).

EDIT 2: So I got everything imported and now it is telling me I need to go back and retag everything I've ever written. Is moving really worth it?

EDIT 3: Liveblogging FTW. I need to figure out how to post from MarsEdit to both Blogger and WordPress so stuff doesn't get fuhgged up. Also, links are cool. EDIT-within-an-EDIT: Tags vs. Categories? Blogger = tags. Tags = Categories on ME. Tags & Categories are different things on WP? Confirmed: now I have Tags AND Categories! Neat!

Blog Maintanance

To get myself back in the blogging groove again, Troll on a PowerBook will be undergoing a buncha layout changes, and in fact, might convert to WordPress just to try it out.

I also downloaded a trial of the best application EVA! It's a Mac (<3) - only blogging application called MarsEdit. I found it when perusing Banana Shoulders (which I adore) this morning. It is total cool! Total!

And dang, I had a long post written up after this all about noobs asking for money and runs through RFC. It was sooo eloquent! And then my computer froze (that's new) and I thought I had saved, but apparently not.

This weekend I got to go see this! Yes, the MLG thing! Cause my friend (a Night Elf resto druid)
was competing in it. It was awesome. I went with friends and had a really good time watching, even though the druid lost to SK and some other really great teams. I got to see Nielyo and Spoh. And omgsh their computers were getting something like 300 fps.

In other news Gal is 69, Nachos is 69, and S4 comes out a couple days after my birthday.

Also Horde WSG and AB and EotS in the 60-69 bracket sucks so hard right now. What happened? It's like, as soon as I level capped for that bracket people started sucking. Shammy and I were gonna do a quick round of WSG to get the daily done yesterday, but he bailed five minutes in and I ended up leading us through over an hour and a half of stalemate. It was about an hour of 1 - 1 with me and a really awesome mage on our D vs. their entire team on D. When our D broke (mage had gone North to see what he could do, so I was left with the noobs) Alliance scored. Then magefriend scored for us. Another half hour of 2 - 2 and finally our team zerged and got pummeled by their 9 hunters and 1 druid. That was my third try at WSG yesterday and we lost horrendously each time.

Today the daily is EotS, but the queues were so long I gave up and did AB. Another loss.

Also I gotta say that being a lowbie sucks. I have this low level rogue who was my second or third character on NZ after Gal. I really thought I'd delete her by now so she had almost no gear and no weapons. I had a random urge to play her, so I decided to do some RFC. Yeah, three really really bad RFCs in a row, with really really bad hunters and attitude-whore paladins and people leaving right in the middle of it all. Really it was a free-for-all since the tanks couldn't keep aggro and I was running all over the place after the mobs chasing the mages and locks around.

And, yes. It's called autoshot. No, it's not a problem with your gun. Yes, you have control over it. Heal your own damn pet. No, hunters don't need strength more than any other stat. And no, I don't have any meat for you or ipwnnoobs.

Baby's Got Back

I've been having a lot of aggro issues with the big blue Cat (multiplied by the respec to MM), which then spurs mana issues, more time spent killing stuff, more time spent eating and drinking, and more money spent on consummables, etc.

Anywho way back when I was 67 (last week? I don't even remember) I was questing in Netherstorm killing these. They are adorable and I just had to have one! At the time Petopia said they were levels 67-69, and after a while looking around I discovered no 67s. Boo. I emailed Mania to let her know, but I was a little disappointed.

Fast forward to level 69 and I'm still struggling with Cat. I mean really, what's his prob? Hold aggro, Arthas be damned! Don't make me manually click Growl every time it's up!

Five minutes ago I get the fantabulous idea to go get one of those raptors. They come with Dash 3 and Bite 9. Yummy.

Anyways, I love my new orange raptor! He holds aggro surprisingly well (my short test run still had me feigning proactively, of course).

And he's just so adorable!

It takes some of that raptor loving sometimes....

Still some weirdness, though (notice the last image), but I know those raptors to be a bit aggro silly with their charge and daze random person thingy going on.

I think I'm going to name him Booty cause he has a big butt. Any suggestions?

So there I was, doing the Slave Pens in Coilfang Resovoir, when I think to myself: Self, we love going boom in the room more than we love anything else. The Beast Within actually knocks our socks off, and we worship it. Every time I pop that baby, Gal should be thrown off her feet with the force of her awesome power.

But as much as I love Beast Mastery, I just haven't been getting the thrill lately. Unfortunately we learned early on that I just can't be fancy and weave shots in like I used to. Arcane shot for me has become obsolete—I'll maybe use it as a killing shot if I just want to get the job done, but it's way too mana inefficient. Serpent sting? That's a thing of the past, too. Stuff dies just too quickly for it to be of any real use. And Multi Shot? Well, Steady Shot replaced that on my main bar months ago....

So where did that glorious thrill of the hunt go? Sure I can still track. My pet and I are closer than ever. I have an extra escape route in the form of my big red awesome button.

But sitting in Slave Pens I realized just how mundane my life as a hunter had gotten. I stood. I marked. I Steady Shot. I Auto Shot. I Steady Shot. I Auto Shot. I Steady Shot. I Auto Shot. I Steady Shot. I Auto Shot. I ignored 95% of the spells I have before me. I had Hawk on, but I didn't really feel like a Hawk. After a while I switched to Serpent. I might as well never run out of mana, right?

Right?

That's when the Shammy broke me from my haze. "Gal, you suck. You are second to last in damage (you beat the healer). The 63 hunter is in the lead. Even I beat you, and I'm a level 61 shaman. For Thrall's sake the tank beat you in damage. Step it up."

"I can't. I'm bored."

"Try doing a Steady Shot spam. Let's see how that goes."

"I have been...."

"And your gun sucks. It's 3.0 speed! That's a Marksman's gun if I ever saw one. It's for weaving in the fancy shots, not for spamming Steadies. L2P, Gal."

I think a part of me died.

And on one of the last bosses our (horrible) group did, I realized what I had to do. As our healer dced during the initial pull, then one by one our party died, I stood by and I Steady Shot, Auto Shot, Steady Shot, Auto Shot, Steady Shot, Auto Shot......Arcane Shot, Steady Shot, Auto Shot, Arcane Shot, Steady Shot, Auto Shot.......

My heart started beating. It was me, my pet, and the tank. The tank was going down fast and the Shammy had already battle-rezed once.

Tank is down. My party mates are screaming and cheering me on.

My pet starts to die, but I have 5% left to go.

My pet dies. The boss turns to me.

I slowly start to back up.

And I Arcane Shot.

Crit!

And he's down!

Solsyn - Welcome to Mulgore

I am Solsyn. I hail from Bloodhoof village in Mulgore. I am a huntress. I prowl the grasslands of Mulgore below Thunder Bluff in search of rare beasts and even rarer treasure.

When I was in my fifth season I met an elder mage named Gasb. Gasb was Undead. He promised to show me the wonders of the world—he'd give me the key to all the adventure I could ever want. So I stopped killing mana worms and I took his hand. Together we stepped through a glittering portal, and I found myself in a dripping cave filled with Undead filth. They sneered at me as I ran out of the cave, desperately seeking the sunlight.

Outside I was instantly blinded by the light of the hot, glimmering sun. I was surrounded by green. I kept running and almost flew off of the edge of a steep cliff. I caught myself just in time. I looked down and my face went white.

Behind me someone snickered. I turned. A Tauren woman with a huge axe looked down at me. She smiled kindly and said something in Taurahe. Gasb came out of the cave and stood next to her.

He sneered. "Good luck, kid." I blinked and he was gone.

"Great. I trusted a corpse. Now look where I am....."

"You are in Thunder Bluff, young elf." I jumped at the sound of the Tauren's voice. "I can show you around, but I think you want to head south." The Tauren pointed. "Head to Bloodhoof village. Speak to the innkeeper there. He will set you straight."

"Thank you."

"For the Horde!"

So I set off down the road towards Bloodhoof, and that's where I made my home. I live to run through the tall grass of the plains. I thrill for the sound of the screeching birds and the roar of the lions. I long to sleep under the stars on the banks of Stonebull River.

My skin has tanned with the Mulgore heat, deepening to a muddy red. My hair is black and tangled. There is sweat on my brow and I wear the skins of the animals I kill.

I love Mulgore, but now it is time to leave and seek new adventure and riches. I heard that there is a war going on in a far off land that has made many wealthy and honored. For now, though, I think I will head east towards the dry Barrens.

It's the Ratshag vibe.

Welcome Back

I have a lot to cover today:

1. I'm done with school and graduating on Friday. /hold for applause

2. So Kryptonite (aka Biohazard) died when my friends and I left. We all joined Blue Pants Crew, but then got tired of being by ourselves. My good friend Ed joined Blood for Blood. Me and my healer made a new guild called Koopa Troop. Then I left Koopa for BfB, which then disbanded. Now I'm in Sword of the Horde with Z. Is that complicated enough?

3. I'm actually level 66 now. And I'm in all blues.

4. I ran around ZG the other day and solo tamed Son of Hakkar. Easy but fun. I've always wanted one, too. Back in the day, Kaliska was my hero. I had to abandon Fenrir to do so, however. He was falling behind anyways.....

5. I also got the Hakkar run on film, if anyone is interested in seeing it. Basically at my level you don't aggro anything.

6. My first MC run was a total disaster. I logged on and found Ed in a big raid group full of people going, so I hopped on in with Z and hit the ground running. Turned out that no one was attuned. So the couple of us that were (there were some CDG people that were obviously decent players and were attuned) zoned into MC, then promptly had to summon every single level 60-65 noob that we had gotten to fill the raid. Z wanted to kill something. Anyways, lotsa annoying chatter and demands of summons, heals, and resurrections later and we wipe for about the millionth time on Core Hounds. I was the only one that survived. I dropped the raid and hearthed out of there. Good riddance.

7. The above makes me realize how difficult this might be for me. My guild is a raiding guild, that's true, but they don't have time for a lowbie hunter that got in because of a good word from a friend. It's a little ironic, too, that my guild actually does an Ony run every week, but only the RL's friends get to go....

8. What happened to people? Lots of WoW bloggers I love have been dropping off the map. I'm puzzled.

9. The blue cat still needs a name. I know, right?

I have a bunch of alts already on Drenden (an irl friend plays Alliance there), so adding one was no biggie. I had no space for a tauren on Ner'zhul anyways.

And as a side note, I now have Fiali the paladin on Daggerspine, Fiali the mage on Ner'zhul, and Fiali the night elf on Drenden. Things might get confusing....

I love me my Blueberry, so Ima show you exactly where he be! He is somewhat west-ish of Falcon Watch, almost directly south of where you do the HP Collosal Menace quest and right above (on the cliff) where you do the mini owl and feathers quests.

Softi...I tried going the ravager route...twice even. The first time was with Hawk and the lvl 63 ravager that changes it's skin every time you call it out (three variations). The second time was with Dave...we both got ravagers. I just can't do it! They're too ugly? Damn their dps abilities! :( To the Troll on the Powerbook! I have a couple questions for you about ye olde mac - I figure you're the one with the answers hehe...and if not, that's ok.

1. Is there a way to make the screenshots not PNG format? That's how they immediately save but you can't upload png's onto blogspot. So I have to convert the darn things every time.

2. AutoRun...there's no numlock key on my macbook obviously...autorun would make it SO much easier to type and keep moving. I keep having to either go on follow or stop just to type. Is there a way to get autorun to a different key? I looked in keybindings and didn't find and auto run option. Maybe I missed it? Lastly, nice screenshots =D I always liked the way Zang looked.

I've always loved ravagers. Can't help it. They are so dang sexy!

I am usually the one with the Mac answers.........when I actually answer the questions, that is. Yeah I still owe you guys a bunch more on setting up your Mac for WoW, which would have been great for when I had just gotten my new Mac, but whatever. It will come.

As for your first question: if there is a way, I am not aware of it, mainly because I play in windowed mode and find it easier to just take selective screenshots (via shift-control-3 or shift-control-apple-4). They are easier to find that way, too. I hate digging through my WoW screenshots folder! The selective Mac shots are already in a nice format for blogger.

I did hear someone somewhere say something about changing some code in some WoW folder that could possibly automatically take in-game shots in .jpeg format, but I'd have to do some more digging before I could tell you for sure.

Actually now that I am really looking at this, the screen grabs also come out in PNGs, and Blogger takes them just fine. I'll look into that, too.

For your second question, I key-map my autorun to the ` key. You can find the autorun keybinding in the first subsection of the Keybindings menu.

Thank you all for the well-wishes regarding my face. I think my nose is cracked, but nothing a little Tylenol Sinus can't fix.

Anywho, yes. There I was sitting in choir class, when a boy ran up and went to hug his friends and punched me in the face with his fist. Because boys hug with their fists closed........?

Apparently my teacher spread the rumor that I ran into the door later during class (after I had left and gone home), so everyone keeps asking me about how my door is doing. Something like that.

And then space dragons came down and wreaked havoc at my school! Bwahahahahahahahahah!!

In other news, this is my hundredth post! And what better way to celebrate than with a story?

Way back when, I did my first AV. I was doing pretty well, too. I followed everyone up all the way North, intently listening to all the "Bal!" and "Vann now noobs!" in bg chat. And then I ran across this really cool bridge and helped clear all the stuff on the other side.

After it was clear everyone stood around near this building and buffed up. I wondered what they were waiting for.

So I ran into the building....

Pulled Vann. And died.

After that everyone looked at me like a noob.

So the guild stuff worked itself out.

Probably because GM and I gquit and reformed. We've been able to snag most of our members back, and have also added some new ones. Even some of the people who came into the guild when evil GM took over have joined us. Eat that.

The evil GM also disbanded and started his own guild. It has three people in it: GM, and his two right-hand men.

All this has brought the guild closer together, and we're excited to start raiding next Tuesday (Kara Kara, boys).

Looks a bit like guacamole in this lighting, but it's really dark green and quite lovely. We have the gem because we're now called Kryptonite. (lol)

Unfortunately, I'm not playing WoW during weekdays (AP exams coming up and such), so I doubt I will ding 70 by next Tuesday for the Karazhan run, though they want me to.

School Spirits

So, school has started up again and it's the final stretch until graduation. As of today I have approximately 25 days left, plus a week for AP exams, and prom, and the actual day of graduation. In two weeks I have to enroll in one of my schools and start all the housing forms and whatnot.

Here are some of my roommate requirements/things that would drive people insane:

- I'm both a late nighter and an early riser.
- I play WoW.
- I snore and sleep with my eyes open (at the same time).
- I have no tolerance for bad behavior, annoying behavior, or stupidity.
- I don't like to talk on the phone, but when someone does call me, I end up talking for hours.
- I sing.
- I'll most definitely spread all of my art supplies all over the room.
- I quote movies and books.
- I talk through movies (reciting lines).
- I'm a musical theater major.
- I don't like rap. End of story.
- Mac > PC.
- I like to whine to people.

It's an ongoing list.

Also, sat in on a Kara run in vent last night while I was doing some homework. They seemed like okay people, until, that is, they wiped over and over on Maiden and started cussing each other out. Our real GM (not the new boob) says our new GM sounds like a woos. I agree. And our new healers suck.

More old people have left and joined real raiding guilds. I'm really happy for them all, but I think it means the possibility of reforming the guild is shot. Probably the true GM and I will gquit in time and then go our separate ways, just like everyone else.

Hostile takeover much?

Apparently, there was a smooth move by our GM. He let a random class O have GM for a day while he was fixing some account stuff.

Well, uh, that didn't work out so well.

Everyone who has been a big part of this guild from the beginning has now been demoted or gquit. All the noobs are ranked higher than us old peeps. The you-know-what has hit the fan.

So old-GM and I are gonna stick it out for a bit and see what's gonna happen, but we talked about reforming. It is a small possibility. It is more likely that people will just go off and join real raiding guilds, though the demand for guilds has been pretty high on our server since BC.

In any case, when I do gquit, I'm going out with a bang.

I'll keep you all informed on my plans........bwahahahahah.

Who Are You, and What Have You Done with My Guild? /cry

It seems like these days, every time I log on WoW from having been gone about two days, there is something screwy going on with my guild. One week it was Billy. Almost every weekend someone I like leaves for some stupid reason. Last week our GM went MIA for a while and everyone just PvPed. This week no one showed up to Kara. And finally this weekend I logged on to find that we had a new GM, a bunch of new officers, tons of old officers had been kicked, I had been demoted (quite a bit), our old GM was missing again (he logs on and off very quickly), and almost everyone online I didn't recognize. I'm sure they were wondering why the hell there was a 63 huntard logging on.

All my attempts to get in touch with my old guildies were futile. The only one I could reach last night was Fal (who I've really come to like; he was also an old class leader), but he was busy and I got muted by his Deadly Boss Mods. Well, I should have looked before I whispered anyways.

So I guess there is an ongoing investigation there for me. If this is a permanent change, I'll probably leave the guild and go it alone again. I really really liked my guild. They were good for me. But if it's come to this, then I guess all I can do is either stick it out or quit while I'm ahead.

Transferring is starting to look like a valid idea now, Z....

Patch Aftermath?

So I downloaded the patch on the desktop computer (no WoW on laptop anymore) and booted it up.

Super fast loading screen, I love it! Gal was in Hellfire with no addons and a full inventory and mailbox (stuff getting sent back from my bank alt....and it's now all getting deleted hah). I felt a little overwhelmed without all my mods at first, but grew to like the freshness of it all. Very old-school.

This was during rolling restarts so there was a lot of NPC lag, which is weird because usually I just get everything lag. In fact, I had almost no lag at all except the NPC lag. Very nice.

I few hours later I log on again. Smooooooothness. No lag. Guild is in Kara, no wipes yet and they have downed Curator and a bunch of other stuff.

So I decide to run BF because I am sick of questing by myself. /rant on Hellfire noobs

I group everyone in the LFG list and we get a priest and we're good to go.

I kinda stopped paying attention after that. I was talking to guildies and listening to music and such—basically just autoshotting everying (huntard!), but we were pretty OPed for BF, which was interesting.

Okay, I promise this isn't going to be a long story about Blood Furnace. I have a point, and the point is weird post-patch behavior of the mechanical variety:

We get in the room just past the big jellyfish guy (he's so cute!!) and I notice Cat drop in happiness. I feed him. We kill some minions. I look again and he's still unhappy. I feel him again. This time when I go to loot I see that my cursor still has the grey outline from feed pet. Weird. Open my bags, click some food. Nothing happens. Click some different food. Nothing.

My party says to dismiss and then call back. Good idea. When Cat comes back up he's very very sad looking. I try and feed him again, and this time I get:

Spell Not Learned Yet.

Oh crap.

I dismiss him again so he won't run away, but now I'm seriously hindered. I mean autoshotting and stuff was bad alreeady, but at least I was spamming some arcanes, steadies, and popping some BW in there. I know, I'm so cool.

We keep clearing to the next boss and now I notice between my arcanes and steadies that I stop shooting completely. No autoshot. Nada. I just stand still.

Uhg.

Relogging fixed it all, but it was very frustrating at the time. I'm kinda scared to think about what would go down if that happened during something more important. But maybe it's just a one time thing....

One more patch-related thing. I did AB on Zocks and I hate those little BG IDs. Hate them. I like knowing where everyone is from.

Other than that, AB is normal. Thank god.

Sorry about the length of this post and the random change in tenses. I'm being really ADD today, yay!!!!

I didn't even know it came out today until Mania posted about it, though I had some idea since my WoW kept trying to update itself this weekend. Strange strange behavior. WoW on my laptop is basically shot, so I am trying to squeeze in some playing time on my dad's desktop after work. Nice thing is....if I work 50 hours in two weeks (by the time spring break is over) I get a new laptop.

So apparently, while I was gone, some major guild drama went down, which is pretty ridiculous if you ask me, seeing as how we barely run Kara and barely have more then ten to fifteen people on at once.

Anyways, I guess I should start at the beginning:

My GM is an interesting guy. He keeps us in check, is fun to be around, and is pretty fair with the Kara/loot/and DKP thing. Most of the people in the guild respect him well enough. Those that don't have left for various reasons (some awesome people, I might add, but what are you gonna do).

Anyways, some people are still transferring from the guild's old server, and the GM, being the trusting guy he is, makes many of them officers like me. They are his RL friends, you see.

I think we all know where this is going.

One of the GMs friend xferred over and got promoted while I was not online to witness it. Almost every time I log on I check the logs and see what's been going on, and I either ask the GM or one of the other officers what the story is. I just gotta know. Have to be organized. I can't stand being out-of-the-loop when I am supossed to be partially in charge.

Anyways, new friend of the GM. Let's call him Billy. I come back, ask who he is, then I settle uneasily into my daily WoW routine. Check mail. Check quests. Check alts. Make some bandages. Log. That's really all you can do with lag as bad as mine (another post). By the way, this was some weeks ago, before I took my refreshing two week WoW break (I highly suggest it, I feel great!).

So I get home from my trip to SF and find that I have been gkicked from the guild. Okay, I'm suspicious. I am generally well-liked, I don't cause "girl drama," I don't hog raid spots, I'm not a loot whore—the only things wrong with me are my low level and my four day absence (SF trip).

I politely whisper my GM, get invited back, get promoted, and stuff, and things go back to normal.

Well it turned out that Billy, one of the GM's RL friends, had gkicked everyone over the weekend and then had stolen everything out of the bank. 'Scuse me while I go fume in a corner.

Its not that we have tons of valuable stuff in the bank, and its not like we'll lose that many people (only inactive members will remain lost)....

But honestly, where is the thrill in doing that? And for what reason? My GM said he had no clue (but the GM can be kinda clueless at times), and if it was a real life friend....

I dunno. People are stupid. Whatever, it's just a game.

And we're back, though only to say hello and extend our WoW break time.

Play was awesome! End of the quarter on Thursday, so lots of tests and lots of work. Got into another college. Then to San Fran Thursday (till Sunday) for choir festival.

So that unfortunately means no WoW for about another week. Or fortunately—I'm enjoying the break. There's a lot less pressure. Maybe another post to explain?

In other news, my internet connection is too bad to play anyways, and my graphics card/whole computer is in its final stage of life. It is now a senior citizen. I'm gonna have to put it in a nursing home soon, I'm thinking.

Also grats to Vigilanti on hitting 70! He passed me and dinged in like a week. I hate you.

Also grats to Sbeleg and Kiyari on 70! (a couple weeks ago now) You guys make an awesome arena team.

Also grats to Z's Nachos, who dinged 40 the other day and got his mount. Now he go fast!

And finally grats to the guild on clearing Kara (I think) and planning some ZA runs to come. Though I am sad that people are leaving due to lack-of-progression. Some really awesome people were alienated and left, but hopefully they'll get the loot and the boss kills they want wherever they end up.

Your agility has gone up by 2.
Your stamina is still in the gutter.
Your health is still laughable, but we'll give you a couple more points just for the heck of it.
What the heck, we'll even increase your mana so you now have enough to change aspects when all your other spells are blued out.
You can now kill things up to level 60 if you are lucky (more if you are a hunter, loser).
You have now graduated to big kid land! Grats!

All right, let's go get ganked!

Woah, waitaminute there, kiddo. Let's just see where we really are here.

First of all, ganked? Really? You should know better. It's not ganking when a 70 camps your corpse in Falcon Watch for a couple hours. It's a massacre. It's an exercize in futility. It's an art masterpiece of your corpses that spells "SOS." It's something we all do, so suck it up and learn to stop complaining. Unless it's a Night Elf druid. Please feel free to call in guildies for that one, cause more often than not it's gonna be a non-level-capped drood showing off their new flight form. Tadaa, I gank you from above!

Second of all, let's take a look at you. Your gear, no offense, sucks, so let's not be so hasty. We want to make sure everything else is up to snuff. The gear will fix itself.

Kay, you have some gold. That's good you'll get more. Your professions are getting there, good for you (don't do the Gal thing, where you waltz into Hellfire with now profs, first aid, or cooking, heheheh)! You can cook and clean. If you are a hunter your pet is—

What. the. crap.

What is that thing? A ~~spider? dragonhawk? flamingo?~~ crocolisk?! How could you?! Okay okay, some of those can be viable in certain cases.

(Not my crocolisk.)

But a crocolisk?

Step away from the portal and put your bow up in the air. Good. Now get your little butt back to Winterspring pronto. Next time I see you I want to see something a little more dignified next to you. Yes, a cat, owl, pig, or wolf would be great. Bear? Bears are for skinning. Ravager that has been sitting in your stable? Level him up! Even better.

Okay, that was a close one. Blizz should make it so people have to go through a noob inspection before passing Warlord Dar'toon. Just....kidding......

Anyways, next let's take a look at your build. I am totally okay with any of the three specs as long as they are built right. I know my way around MM cause I've been MM for a long time (I only repsecced to BM in my late forties, early fifties for Gal), and BM is pretty self-explanatory if you take BRK's cookie-cutter BM guide and customize it for your own play style. For SV I'd suggest you go take a look at Lienna's build, as she is the resident SV hunter around these parts. (One day I'll respec SV to see what she's always going on about.)

So let's look at what we've got so far:

1. 58. Check.
2. New spells. Check.
3. Profs around max. Check.
4. Viable pet. Check.
5. Viable spec. Check.
6. Money and a decent way to travel. Check.
7. Hearth set to Shatt you've probably had for a few levels now. Check.
8. Turned in as many Old World quests as you can. Check.

Now, I guess you are ready for Outland. In some cases I would suggest you wait to go to Hellfire until 60, but nowadays people are starting to grind in HF as early as level 56, so waiting isn't very realistic.

Let's hop on down to the Blasted Lands, nab Through the Dark Portal, and zone!

You get on the other side and LAG attack!! Tons of monsters, tons of NPCs, lots of pretty lights. Avoid those and head straight for the quest reciever and the flight path to Thrallmar. Believe me, if you run into the chaos down there you will get pummeled over and over.

Upon reaching Thrallmar, you should do a couple run-around-and-talk-to-people quests, stock up on some meat, ammo, and other consummables, and then hit the hay in the nearest inn for some rested. Believe me, you'll need it.

I think I deserve a vacation, and the drama production opens next Thursday, so it's gonna get super busy!

Meh so I been only leveling Gal, which is good. Or mostly, I have been running errands on her, lol. I also started PvPing with Zocks again, which feels so good! Even at 26 with super bad gear he kicks butt! And he loves kiting warriors.

This is my PvP kill order:

Night Elf hunters first.

Then warriors.

Then paladins (I love taking them down on Gal especially).

Then other hunters and druids.

Then squishies (i.e. mages and priests).

Then warlocks.

Then rogues.

Anyways, after quite a bit of PvPing on witty Gal and agile Zocks, I decided to level Bloofish, mostly cause my guild was bemoaning the lack of healers for Kara. They want a holy priest, so I volunteered.

Anywho, logged on as a level 4, immediately made friends with a warrior. We quested from 5 to 8 and had a lot of fun. It was pretty fast, even though it actually took like three hours (at least). I am loving Bloo very much. The only thing is that he makes me feel like such a lazy geek. It's that 400 pound 45-year-old woman syndrom. Maybe cause Gal and Zocks and even my belfs are all way more active and fit, and Bloo has other folks to fight for him. Who knows. Anyways, he is a skinny weakling, and we wish he was a girl, but we loves him anyways. His face is just too pretty.

Dunno if I mentioned that after I dinged 60 I was recruited by a guild that had just xferred to NZ. I was their first and only hunter for a while before some 70's joined, but now I'm a pretty high-ranked guild member since I was, ya know, one of the first, I guess.

Anywho, I really like them. Love the druid, love the GM, love the "late-night-humor" shadow priests, love all the officers, love the tabard. Now they are only recruiting 65+ and did their first raid since joining the server earlier tonight. Half-clear of Kara. They are doing second half Saturday night (which I guess is tonight....)

So look them up, and if anyone is interested in joining, pst me in-game. We do casual Kara right now while everyone is waiting for character transfers and attunement. Once everyone settles we'll be starting ZA and some other random stuff. Great group of people, even if I am the only girl!

Hello Tank, Hello Heals

So based on a couple comments I got on my last entry, some actual in-game play, and Pike's latest post over on her blog, I decided to do the same thing as Pike and list all my hunters, the reasons I like/play them, the reasons I don't play them, and then talk a bit about my temporary solution to the alt problem.

However, I'm going to do this in parts, because school work and WoW work is enough as it is, so I'll just update this post whenever I feel like it (prolly a server at a time, with pictures!)....

Statistics:
Total number of characters on Rayare's account: 50 (plus or minus a few, cause sometimes I delete when I plan to make more, and then I don't end up making more for a week or two)

Total number of hunters on Rayare's account: 18 (I really thought I had more than that, but maybe they were all subject to deletion since last time I counted, heheh)

Total number of second-most popular class: 2 level 11 priests (I love them both to death, but they are both Alliance)

Solution:
My solution to the alt problem is to create a character of each of the classes I want/should [to] play.

I already have my priestie Bloofish, whom I love to death, as well as my warlocky Solsyn (redone on Nerzhul - she used to be on Daggerspine), me shamanistic voodoo queen Fiali (she be troll, mon, o'course), and my two new alts: Fiali the paladin on Daggerspine, and Gagda the orc warrior on Nerzhul (Gagda used to be a femtaur druid named Gallie, in case anyone was interested).

Let me just say that Fiali the Pally is so much fun to play. She fast to level and good if I feel like challenging myself with how many mobs I'm pulling, etc. I like to pull three or four mobs and then wait till the last minute to heal myself. Big rush.

I just rolled Gagda after deciding I needed to embrace the Ratshag inside me, so we'll see how she goes. Hopefully I will have lots of fun being a (gasp!) melee class!

And I am hoping that playing these classes will also make me a better and happier hunter. I think I will appreciate a lot more my role in the game, as well as everone else's role.

And I will finally feel appreciated! I want to be a class that people want to group with. Tanks and healers are wanted, so that's how I figure I should go!

Plus then when I play Gal I'll realize how much hunters are wanted by other classes, too. Seeing from someone else's perspective will be good for me (and my ego).

Class Conflict

Every time I ding on Gal I get the urge to go play an alt, snd I go clear a spot for yet another new member of the family. I then level said alt to 5, 6, or 7, then I sleep. Then the next day when I am done with all my work, I log on WoW and cannot stop questing or instancing on Gal until she dings again, and the cycle continues, and the alt is deleted. I have felt this since level 58.

For once I'd like to make an alt that is not a hunter that I can actually stick with. An alt that is not another DPS class. I want to be a healer or a tank. I want to feel wanted without having mana issues, being squishie, or having to run around smacking things with my sword and worrying about stances. I want to be a valid class for both PvE and PvP. I also want the option to run solo. I also want to level fast.

The last suggestion I got was to play a shammy, so I made Fiali, my level 3 troll shaman with the purple mohawk. Before that I was trying out warlocks, and I got to level 7 before deleting her and starting her over on a different server (she's now stuck at 3). I also rolled a level 4 UD priest which I love to death but just can't quite get into.

Now I think the perfect thing for me would be a druid, however, I dislike how fem taurs look, and male tauren and night elves are just so friggen' common. But druids have the options I want. The other downside is that Z is leveling his druid to come play with me in Outlands, and I don't want to cramp his style. The final downside for me is that I am used to playing a relatively simple class (no, I know hunters aren't really simple, but you understand what I mean), and I think all the shapeshifting and whatnot is gonna get on my nerves.

So what to do?

Roll another hunter while I think about it?

Blue Cat, Orange Raptor, Blue Bracers

So Cat and I are busy buying gear galore, gems for our spiffy Ramparts pants that we got (did I ever mention those in the flurry of dinging 60? I guess not), upgrading some stuff (why are our bracers an -of the Wolf SM drop? something screwy happened there during one of our naked Outlands runs), including a new belt which gives a major crit and RAP boost, running Ramparts till our eyes bleed, yay yay, waiting in AV queues for the 30 Marks we need to afford the PvP Black War Raptor that we've wanted since, like, forever, leveling first aid (!), skinning our brains out, and actually leveling herbalism since we now go super fast. Gal's not leaving Hellfire until all her profs are up to date. She doesn't even have a single point of XP yet because all she's been doing her chores like a good troll. She's even been meleeing (gasp) to get her two-handed axes skill up. She's also practicing her jump shots and kiting and trapping and pulling and wingclipping. I think I have to work on wing clip the most. And she now properly uses BW whenever the cooldown is up, can chain trap all through Ramparts (heya, good story there), and now remembers which trinket to use when. Good work!

So it's been a busy weekend for Gal and Co., but we'll be around doing our thang and smacking some Alliance hides in AV.

Also, after dinging 60, Gal was recruited by a very very casual 60-70 leveling and Kara-running guild called Biohazard. We'll see how it works out. They are quiet, which I like, and very professional. I can't wait to run something with them. Also their tabard is actually tasteful (that's a first). The only awkwardness I have had with my old guild was a day ago when I physically ran into the GM, but we exchanged a few emotes and went our separate ways, so I think it's all good.

So, yeah. Most of my time on WoW will be spent on Ner'zhul this weekend. I have to level Zocks and gear him up for AB, and I have tons of stuff to auction off (my poor bank mule is drowning in gear right now).

It seems like I've hit a wall at 58, where I am excited to go through the portal, but just not ready yet, but I really should because my guild is (finally) doing a Kara run on Saturday, and I am even camped on in Stonard right next to the Blasted Lands, and both Malzara and the Shammy (on his main of course) are super excited for me to start heading their way, and the Sham insists I should start running Ramparts, but I just spent basically ten whole levels in Winterspring grinding my face off and waiting for that cat which ended up being not as impressive for everyone else as it was for me, and....

And I'm going out of town this weekend, which will be a good break.

So to get away from my guild and my server and my whole life on Ner'zhul, I decided to go back to an old server of mine and play on an old alt, who is well on her way to level ten now as a female Blood Elf warlock.

Why a lock, you ask? Well after talking to Hawk a week or two ago about the differences between a hunter and a warlock (and the differences between a hunter's relationship with their pet vs. a warlock's relationship with his minion), I decided I really needed to experience it for myself. And I thought doing that from the beginning would be better than trying to play on Malzara.

So, meet Solsyn, my Daggerspine warlock, and her imp Pagtai.

Solsyn is young and feisty and loving her DoTs. She kills fast for a level 6. I'm very proud of her.

I'm planning on Affliction, Herbalism, and Alchemy.

Visitors to Daggerspine are welcome!

And Galileyo will be officially hitting the Dark Portal either tonight or tomorrow.

More On My Guild

I can't decide what I am going to do about my guild.

I am apparently now one of the main people in the guild, and thus I have some say in what changes are gonna happen. In fact, I am going through a lot of what Amava went through when his guild started running Kara.

I'm organizing my guild for Kara, even though I can't even run it yet.

And I am becoming friends with the GMs. I really like some of the people in the guild.

But 70s keep leaving for progression guilds and then the GMs go on a wild rampage and gkick people.

One of the GMs assured me that I'd always be welcome even if I left. She's having some of the same feelings I am.

So I tossed a few ideas to her. I think some stuff will be implimented, but I'll just have to do another post with an update on the situation.

Right now standing in Shatt I mostly feel embarrassed to have their guild listed under my name....

And more seventies left today for more progressed guilds. It's a confusing situation, but it ended with a bunch of people getting gkicked. I kept my mouth shut, mostly.

I Hate Guilds

You know what I hate? Guilds.

I hate them. With a flaming passion.

I am so annoyed at my guild right now that I am minutes away from gquitting in frustration. I have my reasons to quit, and I have my reasons not to.

One of my main reasons not to: why can't I just be patient, grind to 60, and then start to get myself recruited as I crawl towards 70?

Another one: where will I go if I leave them? Sure, I was on my own before, but being on my own again will just be counterproductive to all the work I have been putting towards eliminating my PUG career.

And I need their ugly tabard to cover my uglier bright banana yellow chest piece (yes, even the upgrade to the last banana yellow chest piece is banana yellow).

So, after fuming to Z for an hour while he was in TK, I came to the uncomfortable decision that I should just stick it out for the time being. I mean, the hate comes in waves usually anyways.

So Ima try and make some friends. I am starting by participating in guild conversations and running guild/raid leaders through low level instances on their alts. I think talking will be good, as I was labeled "quiet much?" earlier today.

So whiles I gots one more art portfolio due for colleges, and thus no times at all for the playing of the WoW, Ima copy BRK and Renoobed and Hawk many other such peeps and tell a real life Rayare story. If itsa funny, I'll be surprised.

The other day I was on Facebook (hey I am a lowbie, what do you expect?) doing some such stuff about something or another. And there's this application you can do that "/emotes" your friends. Now you gotta understand that I am a shy shy person. Beyond shy. Telephone calls? Nuh uh. Participating in class? Dun think so. Vent? Just kill me now. (As a side note I am actually a big musical theater person, but that's another story.)

So you will understand my pain: I typed "spank" as the emote, thinking it would be semi amusing to spank a few of my closer friends. And then I hit send. It happened so fast that I didn't even realize until afterwards that I had accidentally confirmed that it should send the emote to every single person I know. Time stopped and I think I stopped breathing. I had pressed send to all instead of send. Oh god....

Z started laughing his head off when he got the email from Facebook that I had spanked him and all of our friends and all of the people that I didn't even really know. This included my ex boyfriend's best friend (who thankfully is a good friend of mine anyways, but yeah).

What made it worse was that there were some nice pictures to go along with each spanking. I think it was a butt and a paddle. Yeah, that was it.

A Post to a Pet

So the lovely huntress Gal dinged 54 last night. She would have leveled the night of my BRD solo run, but I was conflicted about which trinket to get from my Azshara hunter quest—hmmm, AP or longevity as a BM hunter??

Anyways. Went with the AP. I can (and will) always get something better once I hit Outlands, even if I want to pause at 59 to PvP before I do. It's been a long time since I was at the top of my bracket on Gal, and I dearly miss the hours I have spent in AB and even WSG. The funny thing is, is that I don't even remember what pet I used to PvP with. I mean, nowadays when I PvP I just pop in for a quick go with whatever pet I happen to have trained. Or I play on Zocks (who's almost 29 and twinked) or Saraii (who I PvPed on more when she was 19 and twinked).

Here's where I get to the point of this post:

Now that I am actually moving up in levels, I once again find myself lost and petless. Well, partially.

My stable consists of three pets.

Luca, formerly Humar the Pridelord, who I trained with Shammy many a month (year?) ago. He stopped somewhere around 39-40 when I got my tiger Sarai in STV. Now out of all the pets that have come and gone, Luca has been the one that I can't bear to part with. And I would level him, but I have two issues with him: one, I should be focusing on leveling myself instead of worrying about my pet; two, everyone has Humar, and although on occassion I enjoy being just another hunter in the crowd, I like being unique, too. I am a troll hunter, and female no less. I need a pet that matches my play style and my personality. And although Humar does fit the bill (black or white pets attract me more than almost any other skin), he is so unique that now everyone has him. I love Luca, though, so maybe he will be reborn in a new skin one day (blue tiger from Winterspring? That would match my hair!)

As another note, I love cats. Tigers are my favorite animals!

Nem the boar, a piggie covered in mud that Z trained for me in the Blasted Lands. You all know about my issues with Nem. I dislike boars as a family. There are some really cute boar skins, dun get me wrong, like the ones from Loch Modan. I adore those reddish brown and black ones. I even like the armored boars! I totally would have gone for one of those. And I do accept that they are awesome for both PvE and PvP. But I don't like Nem. However, I'm not stupid. I kept Nem anyways, because he is my level and he is well trained with full loyalty already. And I will eventually find some use for him. But he replaced Sarai, my tiger, and that was not fun for me. And that makes me a little bit bitter about using Nem.

It's just that, well, I've been having issues sticking with pets, as I've talked about on numerous occassions before. I have tamed almost all the rare pets or special skinned pets. I have all the proper ranks of spells, etc., just from going out and finding and taming and then, sadly, getting bored and dismissing. And now that I have to take into consideration the needs of my party for instances, or my guild, or even my PvP career, my old pets have to go. One by one the pets that I used to really care about are disapearing, being replaced by my ADD pets, like Nem, or the wind serpent I used to have, or even Fenrir. One by one the pets that I used to really care about are being replaced by pets that are more useful to me as a hunter.

And now I have problems attaching to any one pet on Gal, because I have had so many. I don't have this problem on any of my other hunters, and that this is happening to Gal, to my main, makes me so so sad.

Which brings me to my last pet, Fenrir.

Fenrir gives me hope. He is a fine companion for Gal, and she is starting to fall in love with him. She loves every time he turns blue after proccing Ferocious Howl. She loves how he runs, sort of lopsided, but totally cute. She loves how he appears every time she dismounts. By the time I land from a flight and get over the lag, he is there waiting for me, like he got there even before I did. He is the first (and only) pet I've taken to Outlands with me, and he knows Shattrath well. He's gone to Sunken Temple and now has solo'd Blackrock Depths. I have no doubt in my mind that he will be there, or at least close by, when I finally finish all my quests in Un'Goro, or when I do PvP in the future. He's gonna be by my side in one way or another for a while to come.

And even though he isn't a rare pet, he is unique. He is a gorgeous beast, and there are days when I wish I could just lie down on the soil of the Burning Steppes and sink my hands and face into his warm, soft fur.

Fenrir is becoming Gal's saving grace.

But I also have to consider the future, and the other pets that I will need.

And I hope that wherever that takes me, I will find a pet that inspires me to love again, just as Fenrir is doing now.

I remember every pet I have ever tamed. I remember my first pet, my raptor Domino. I remember Vale the wolf from Ashenvale. Then Humar. Then Sarai. Those are the pets I really loved and will always hold close to me, even though most of them are gone. And I think Fenrir will one day join them.

But I still need to find others that captivate me as much as Fenrir does now, and are just as beneficial as companions, which is why I before said "petless."

Today I solo'd BRD.

I cleared the whole thing up to the first boss.

No short cuts cause I don't have the key.

All I had left before I called guildies to help me down the boss was one pat, one four-pack, and one two-pack that I was just too lazy to do on my own (lol).

PUG my ass.

That's the proof.

It's a great exercize, actually. I really had to concentrate on pulls and strategic fights. There are tons of cc opportunities as well. It was a hunter workout!

It probably would have been more impressive had I completely cleared the Detention Block and downed the first boss, but, eh, what I did was pretty cool. And as it was I was met with a lot of disbelief, skepticism, and even some hate. Some people thought I was stupid and a newb.

But I have no doubt in my mind that I've come out a better hunter and a better player.

So, nyah nyah!

*EDIT: Guildie who came to help me wiped with me twice on Hedrum before calling it quits. I feel bad, and I didn't get to thank him enough. Kinda the whole deal with my guild made me feel like an idiot and a newb. They made me feel really alienated. Something about them being a little condescending to me the whole time.... Well, another post.

Okay, peeps, whoever is searching for "Mac WoW" on Google is coming to the right place (granted I finish my WoW setup post series), and "Bartender 3 Mac" is somewhat related to my blog, but "How to find out what is taking up the most room on my Powerbook" is a little, uhm, off topic, shall we say? Unless of course you have WoW installed. Then WoW is probably your answer. Or my ego. I mean, I am averaging quite a few hits per day now, so my troll ego is swelling. It's the [Troll Mojo], mon. (And we got plenty of it.)

But to humble myself a bit, I am also going to admit that most of the hits I get are from people google finding that picture of the man wearing a tie I had up a few weeks ago, you know, for Have Bow, Will Travel's shout-out post. I don't know what is so fascinating about that picture, but I'm pleased it's sending people here anyways.

Another random note, the "what is taking up the most room" query yields my BRD rant post because it has all of those words in it.

I sorry! I been so busy! I been applying to college and dealing with friends and teaching newbs and I just been so busy!

I start out with story:

Along the lines of BRK's 'Hunter Horror in Redridge' videos, I myself found a young hunter being a complete and utter newblette. But mine was probably worse.

I was on Drenden, in fact, on a priestly alt in Loch Modan. I'm leveling her with Z to help him survive his burnout. Poor thing.

Anywho. I'm running around the Loch leveling and grinding and skinning and herbing, when I see a young hunter assaulting kobolds in a kobold village. He's level twelve, and looks a little overwhelmed. His pet has died, too. Awww....

I run over after he is done killing his little group of kobolds. I give him a Blessing of Fortitude. He thanks me. Then he keeps killing. I stand back and watch him run up to the mob, fire one shot, run closer, then start wacking at it. Huh. Curious. I help him burn down the mobs.

"Where is your pet?"

Silence.

"Hey, where's your pet?"

"I don't have one."

"Why not?"

He looks at me. "I dunno."

I give him the lecture on being a good hunter and an upstanding citizen. I tell him to go grab a cat from Dun Morogh, then to go from there. He thanks me and hearths away.

Later I found him sitting with a new bear by his side. Well, at least he took some of my advice!

Anyways, that's story number one of where I've been this week.

Numba two explanation: Financial aid forms as well as insane amounts of homework.

Numba three: Z's boredom with WoW is starting to rub off on me, but that's another post.

Numero Cuatro: Hah, I got my first rejection letter!

Five: Having shammy back makes me avoid WoW like the plague some days, hahah.

Six: War Party is still dead, so I thus have no motivation to level Zocks and Saraii, though I guess it has been officially decided that Zocks is gonna twink himself at 29, which I guess means I'm not longer going to level him once he hits the bg cap. I'm also debating upon whether I should go have him train a ravager while he still has room for more xp. The other day when I was doing AB with Solusek almost every hunter had a ghost saber. It makes me want to shoot something, hahah. Also, even though Zox has bad gear right now, he still completely dominated, but I think I already mentioned that once....

Seven: I am obsessed with rerolling Alliance. There must be something wrong with me! I'm also absolutely dying to get back into ST on Gal, and into STV on any character, I don't care which! I want to be in Booty Bay! Now. And I want a panther.

In other news, I know, I'm sorry, this post is getting long: I went to go visit Hawk from One Among Many! We had an interesting discussion, or rather, we began an interesting discussion, on hunters vs. warlocks and their different pet relationships, but we got sidetracked by our funky hair and awesome style. We rock. I have to go back soon so we can continue our chat.

And from that we decided to post pictures of our characters. She started it off with Tigershark, her little troll (<3) alt hunter.

Rayare's Insta-Float

Ingredients:

1 can of Root Beer (pref. A & W, pref. diet)
1 glass (chilled or add ice if soda not cold)
1 carton of Half and Half

Directions

Open can of Root Beer. Wait till fiz dies down. Pour soda into glass down the side of the glass so fizzing remains minimal (makes float creamier and smoother). Leave space between liquid and top of glass. Wait till top settles. Add Half and Half until latte colored or light. Experiment with different amounts to find out how much you like. Stir with spoon. Lick spoon. Yum....

1. After initial bad BRD run, Z ran me through on Malzara. Got many hunter goodies. Go look at armory.

2. After initial bad BRD run, joined guild with people my level. Huzzah. They talk too much, though. Very distracting.

3. New tabard due to above. It's not great, but now I match my new armor! And I got a fancy shirt to go underneath. I spoil myself, heheheh.

4. Haven't run anything with aforementioned guild yet. They do Kara, though, with their seventies. Interesting.

5. Sucked it up and queued for Sunken Temple.

6. Got into sa-weet group!

Rayare's Guide to Setting Up Your Mac for WoW

Anyways, as you can see, I am obviously on an Apple. I have tons of stuff running all at once. I always have at least that much stuff running. Don't talk to me about lag. I am aware.

I am running Mac OS X version 10.5.1 (aka Leopard). My processor is a 1.5 GHz PowerPC G4. I have 1.25 GB DDR SDRAM (a recent upgrade). My graphics card is a GeForce FX Go5200. Nothing special. Keep in mind my laptop is also three or four years old.

You should know exactly what you are running. The more you know, the easier it is to fix it. To find out what you've got cooking, click the Apple icon in the top left of your screen (it's on the File bar). Select "About This Mac."

A little window will pop up that will tell you the basics. If you are ready for some advanced statistics, click "More Info...."

Okay, now that we have the basics of the computer down, let's move on.

Launch WoW. Go ahead. Do it.

Sweet, now we've got some WoW action. Oh no Gal popped up in Org. Laggy lag lag.

Okay, let's take a look at your video and interface settings.

The setting should be pretty self explanatory for video. You've got your resolution, framerate, blah dee blah.

This is how I play. I have a few of my reasons why (but not all of them, because I am spacing):

1. I play on a very small screen. They don't make Apples this small anymore. I have been cramped for space since the beginning of my WoW career. It wasn't until about a half a year to a year ago that I decided that having my window minimized would make my life a lot easier. This was before the launch of Leopard and the Spaces application.

2. I like to do auctions and talk to friends while on WoW while I do other things. Spaces can sometimes lag if WoW is on, so clicking out of WoW is often easier.

3. Grinding is always more fun when you aren't watching it happen.

A Most Frustrating BRDay

I think I've been avoiding doing any instances on Gal.

And today I remembered it's for a good reason.

I started out my WoW day on the auction house because I had nothing to do. Shammy shows up and makes me port to Shattrath (Gal's first step in Outlands!) so I can set my hearth there. He tells me I'm lazy because I haven't done it yet, but really hearthing there only because of the free ports sounds even more lazy, but who am I to complain? Shammy leaves, and Z and I are gonna run BRD since he just transferred here and had time to spare before his first run with his new guild Over the Line (Gruul's for the curious).

Well we didn't actually get to do BRD because I had to go and he had to go, etc.

I log in a bit later and decide, well, since I am here already, why not? I queue up for a group. Find a full one with a 50 pally, 57 healer, random lock, and 52/53 rogue.

Coolies. This is good instance karma. I run to Kargath to stock up on arrows and clear out my bags. Decide my boar just isn't going to cut it even though my group doesn't care. I hate the boar and the only reason why I have him is because of Z (although he was pretty handy in the 2-minute match of WSG my shammy and I totally smashed). I stable him (byebye to tiger kitty). I offer to go grab a wolf.

In case you haven't noticed, I have a rather large attraction to white, black, or orange pets. Well, maybe I gotta do a pet timeline one day.

I train my pet but now my ui is freaking out. My joy for addons is fading. I spent fifteen minutes logging then relogging just to get my freaking portrait to show up on the screen.

By the time time I finally get it to work half of my group has left. Seriously, I told them what my problem was and that I would summon people in between. They were all doing AV and such while I waited around for them to show up.

Alright, patience is a virtue. Z promised me another run later anyways, so it's all gonna be okay.

I get a whole 'nother group together with the remaining rogue (who I have to give a shout-out to later for being a great tank....you'll see). The 50 pally returns and we have a tank. We get another rogue. I kick him. Sorry, man. We get a 55 healer who doesn't know what BRD is, but he's good anyways. We get a new warlock (who is not demo spec because demo is "nubsauce"; Z agrees).

My wolfy is falling in love with me while we summon people. My graphics are a little funky (remember the kablooey post?), but it's nothing I can't handle. I redo all my spell bars because they have been moved around by friends while I wasn't playing. We are good to go apart from the rapidly decaying amounts of meats we've gots due to Mr. Wolfy.

We go in we wipe on trash before zoning (except me). We rez. We zone. People lag. While people (and by that I mean pally) lag, rogue tanks like a freakin' feral druid. Priestie heals. Wolf attacks. We dps. Warlock....warlock....warlock has imp out.

Pally comes in.

"Let me pull."

Now I was letting the rogue pull before cause I was lagging a lot and he knew what he was doing. He was marking mobs and taking charge. I should have friended him and saved him for a rainy day.

But now when the pally asked to pull because he couldn't, and I quote, "get aggro" from us, I was starting to get a little worried. I told him to get a threat meter, first of all. Then I stood back and shut my eyes.

Pulled a group. BAM. Pulled another on top of that. Healer's hands must have been flying across the keyboard. And you know how those packs are: they've got the elite and then his doggie minions. I was multishotting the Bloodhounds off the priest and the warlock, and then tanking them while alternating DPS on the elite. There's no point in freezing them at this point, I'm healthy and not taking very much damage. Plus we need all the DPS we can get on the two main mobs.

We barely take down the first pull. The pally dies in the middle of this and suddenly the elites are running all over. Priest gets bashed a few times before I catch one and then send it the rogue's way. We eat through the second pull slowly.

Okay, phew. That was good. We're out of mana, but the pet is up and happily chewing on some Bloodhound flanks.

Pally comes back.

Let's try this again.

Same thing. Two packs pulled. We are dropping like flies. I am the last one standing and my pet and I take down the second pack by ourselves while everyone watches.

We so had that!

But then yet another pack that had chased the fleeing healer out ran back and I had no mana left to pop a heal on the wolf. I watch in horror as he falls and then one elite and one Bloodhound run for me. My feign is on cooldown. I have no pet. I have no mana. I am a broken hunter.

"Should I start rezzing?"
"No. Just wait for her to die."

At least I put up a fight!

We stop and reasses as we drink and eat. Meat is getting ridiculously low, but more is dropping off of Bloodhounds and people are donating.

Alrighty. First boss, or whatever, in the big room. The bat-dragons go down and I think the pally almost died again. I yet again found myself tanking the bats I pulled off of the healer and lock.

Then the second part of the battle begins. Sa-weet. This guys is gonna go down easy. He's gonna be butter on toast, baby.

And then I lag. I am calm. This happens all the time.

Okay okay, I mentally anticipate my cooldowns and fire shots while nothing happens.

Then the music stops.

And I DC.

Sh*t-monkies!

I zone as fast as my poor little PowerBook will let me. The boss is down. I go to see the loot that I missed out on.

.......Oh...my...god.

"Who took my leggings?"
"No one has rolled yet."
"Who took my friggin' leggings?!"

I'm lagging.
They've already left me there.

"Who won those?"

They roll for another item that I don't care about.
I stop lagging enough to run and find them.
They are all dying. What the crap?

"Who took my leggings? I wanted those. I just want to know who so I can mentally bash them in the noggin."
Warlock: "Dude, this f*cking sucks. Priest why weren't you healing? Pay attention, noobs."
Warlock: "I am so out of here."

The warlock leaves. Good riddance. He wasn't doing much but pulling aggro anyways.

"Who won my leggings?"
Pally: "I got them lol."
"........"
"I don't even want them." <--(aka my leggings are gonna be vendor trash!!)
"They're BoP, right? Are you sure?" <--(because everything awesome has to be BoP.)
"Yeah, man, I would totally give them to you if not."
"*Sob*"
"Yeah sucks I'm not even going to use them. I don't want them. Anyone here an enchanter?" <--(aka let's disenchant Galileyo's pants, bwahahah!!)

Everyone is dead except for me. I am mourning the loss of my pants. The pally takes my loot and runs. He says he's done for now, too, but if we group again later to PST him.

Yeah right. You were a sucky tank anyways!

I hate paladins.

I bid farewell to the excellent rogue and super healer. They agree. We'll try again another day. I hearth back to Shatt, crushed on the inside. WoW quits like five times while I run around.

To Alt, or Not To Alt, That Is the Question

Burning Out in WoW:

We all burn out. And that's okay. When I burn out it's pretty bad. My last WoW hiatus went from December of '06 to around September of '07 corresponding to the loss of my leveling partner (the shammy*).

Since then I have had multiple mini WoW burnouts. And I don't mean that like small gaps in my play (although those occurr, too, but are less burnouts than breaks due to real life complications). I mean mini burnouts as in getting tired of a specific character. I like to call it WoW ADD, which I have a severe case of. It's also called "altahol abuse" (i.e. someone can be an altaholic). It's Warcrack for a reason, people!

Anywho, why are we talking about this, you alt abuser?! you ask.

Have thou burneth out on Wow? Have thou made thy lastly alt, and thus vow to turn over a neweth leaf? Art thou leaving us?!

Stop freaking out or I'm going to smack you upside the head with my laptop.

The reason why I am talking about this is thus: a friend of mine thinks he has burned out on WoW. Again. Z and I were talking about this the other day. His guild is officially done with Kara. They do some ZA runs when they can. He claims his server is a dying one (and I can't blaim him). He has no patience for alts. At all. And he's sick of WoW. And he wants to stop.

Hmmm....

Okay, not that I really want to convince him otherwise. WoW is really an addiction, and if you burn out, then let yourself burn out. Especially for us—we're just now applying to college and finishing up high school. This is probably the best possible time for a break from the game.

But listening to him talk about how the game is ruining his last few months as a high schooler really got me thinking about my own addiction. And the addiction of other friends I have. And the addiction of all of us.

These are my WoW addictions:

I play too much. I am a casual player and I still feel like I play too much. Hence why I blog about it now instead of spending my time actually playing. I think this is better.

I have too many alts. Plain and simple. I know I preach that one can never have enough variety, but the emotional attachments I get to some of my >10 characters makes me crazy. Why can't I just delete them? If I want more space for alts on servers I actually play on, then why not just delete more than half of the 50 alts I have?

Out of my alts, I think I play too many hunters. Gasp, I know, right?

And a newer addiction: addons and user interfaces. This is a biggie.

Okay, bear with me here. I have some points I want to make and then I want discussion to follow.

Mostly I want to talk about WoW ADD. Anyone who has taken a look at my Big Page of Alts knows that I have got major WoW ADD. And that’s not even a complete list. It is missing some key alts still.

I have ADD when it comes to leveling Galileyo. On many levels, too. I tame hundreds of pets. I just haven’t found the right one for her yet. I hate her current pet—a yellow boar. And I am having a hard time leveling her at all. Quests just don’t appeal to me, and I never have enough time all in one chuck to run instances. I have goals for her, yes. She not going into Outland until sixty. She eventually is going to just be a PvP character, and not a raider. She needs her epic land mount above all else. I can get away with not having a flying one if I’m just doing bgs all the time.

The more time I am wasting with her, though, is more time I will have to put in to catch up with current seventies—gear and game play experience –wise. This is a problem.

What do I do when I don’t want to think about/solve said problem?

I roll an alt. Hence the recent birth of Khuza, the rebirth of Galileo (she’s a shammy again), and the instance I ran on Trikk.

I have WoW ADD so bad that I can’t even level Zocks at the moment. I had some real focus going on him for a while, but when things at War Party subsided I stopped playing him, too. Now, he is GM of War Party, so he’s got to stick around and do some moderating, especially with the hiatus of the other two GMs. And since we are resurrecting our dreams for War Party he will have to level to keep up with the guild.

Saraii was going to be a 19 twink until I got bored with Warsong Gulch. I’m hoping for a 39 twink from her. I’ve got gear for her and everything.

I have profession ADD, too, but that is another blog post.

And I’m having ADD with this blog post. I’m starting to lose my direction. Okay, back to the main point: burnouts.

How do you deal? How do we all deal with this? How can you help a friend deal or not deal with a burnout?

Do you roll an alt like I do? Do you join another server? Do you spend hours tinkering with your ui? Do you peruse WoW blogs and write long posts that lack direction?

Introducing Khuza, my new alt (she took the place of one of my favorite alt mages, sigh)....

Here you see her running through Durotar toward Razor Hill, quite drunk off of the voodoo charms she got in Sen'jin (one of my favorite villages—if there was an innkeeper there I would set my hearth regardless of the lack of flight master). And you also see she made a new friend, a nice shammy who, in the screenshot, is a frog. They did many a quest together!

Here's her closeup. She's a lovely thing, isn't she? Not many female orcs running around.

Anywho, I'm going to blog a bit about her adventures every now and again. She's planning on taming one of the Durotar Tigers off in Echo Isles when she hits ten, which will be exciting. Granted she'll have to level it two to three levels depending, as they only come in seven through eight. She'll also have to run around taming other stuff to get the extra skills. The tigers in Durotar are basically a blank canvas, so take that as you will. I guess for me, since I have a lot (and I mean a lot) of experience with pets, it's kinda a nice thing to be able to start from scratch.

And I also have to decide whether I want her to just go BM like the rest of my hunters, or spec her in Survivalist (which I've tried before, but only at a high level, never starting from the beginning, I mean). I dunno, I guess it will just depend when I hit ten. I can pick then. And it never hurts to try something new, right?

Although, I have to admit, the tiger would look awfully smashing in a big, red sheen....
